Gmail in Apple Mail

    In Steve Jobs' last keynote at WWDC he simply stated,"I live in Apple Mail."  I like Steve live in apple mail and hate leaving it to deal with web based email accounts.  Well, if you have an account with gmail (or even aol) you can set up your gmail account to work within Mail.
    To access gmail in Mail is very simple and consists of two major steps.  The configuration process is listed in detail below.

Step 1

1.  Login to your Gmail account
2.  Click on the Setting button on the upper right corner of the screen
3.  Choose the Forwarding and POP tab
4.  Click one of the 3 buttons which will enable POP

Step 2

1. Open Mail and enter the preference pain (Mail -> Preferences)
2.  Select the accounts tab
3.  Hit the + button in the lower left corner.
4.  a. Choose POP form the the drop down menu for Account
     b. Add your name (or any name you would like) to the full name field
     c. Enter your full gmail address in the email address field
     d. Click continue

5.  a. In the next window enter smtp.gmail.com in the outgoing server field.
     b. Enter your full email address in user name
     c. Select the use authentication box
     d. Click Continue
6.  You will see a confirmation screen.  Click continue again.

At this point Mail will download everything (excluding the junk) from gmail.  If you have a lot of messages this may take some time.  So, brace yourself and get ready to enjoy your gmail from glorious Mail.
